Mercedes-AMG is celebrating 50 years of building potent, fast Mercedes road and race cars with an ensemble of limited edition models, the AMG GT C Roadster Edition 50 the star of show. At the Geneva International Motor Show in a couple of weeks, the Edition 50 and AMG C63 S Cabriolet Ocean Blue Edition will share the stand.
Only 500 examples of the sinister matte-finished AMG GT C Roadster “Edition 50” will be made, with 50 slated for U.S. sale. It features AMG’s 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, which has 550 horsepower, a fat vein of torque and a compelling deep-throated roar. Power feeds through a 7-speed transaxle. A friend who bought an AMG GT S this past year for travel in the western U.S. says he will never sell it, no matter what other cars he adds to the garage.
